Who we are

Klager Cleaning ("we", "us", "our") is a residential and commercial cleaning company based in St. Catharines, Ontario, serving the Niagara and Hamilton regions. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle the personal information of visitors to klagercleaning.netlify.app and people who contact us to request a quote or book a cleaning.

We are the data controller responsible for your personal information. If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us at klagercleaning@gmail.com.

What we collect

We only collect the information we actually need to deliver a cleaning service or respond to your inquiry.

Information you give us directly

When you fill out our quote request form on /quote, you provide:

• Contact details — your full name, phone number, email address, and city or service area
• Service details — type of cleaning, home size, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, preferred frequency
• Optional notes — anything else you'd like us to know (pets, access, priorities)
• Consent confirmation — your explicit permission for us to contact you about your inquiry

If you email or call us directly, we receive whatever information you choose to share in that message.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, our analytics tools (see Cookies & Analytics below) may collect:

• Your IP address and approximate location (city-level, from your IP)
• Browser type, device type, operating system, and screen size
• Pages you visit, how long you stay, and what you click
• The referring site that sent you to us (if any)

This data is aggregated and used to understand how the site is performing — it is not used to personally identify you.

How we use your information

We use the personal information you provide for these specific purposes:

• To respond to your inquiry — call or email you back to confirm scope, quote a price, and schedule a cleaning
• To deliver the service — coordinate appointments, answer questions, and follow up after a clean
• To send service-related communication — appointment confirmations, reminders, and changes
• To improve our service — anonymized analytics help us understand what's working on the website
• To comply with legal obligations — tax records, insurance, and any other law we're required to follow

We do not use your personal information to sell, rent, or trade with any third party for marketing purposes.

Consent & CASL

Under PIPEDA, we rely on your express consent to collect and use your personal information. When you submit the quote form, the required consent checkbox confirms you understand and agree to be contacted about your inquiry.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing klagercleaning@gmail.com. Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to deliver service to you going forward, but will not affect any cleaning that has already been booked.

Storage & security

Your information is stored on service providers we trust to maintain industry-standard security:

• Netlify — hosts our website and securely processes form submissions (servers located in North America)
• Google Workspace / Gmail — receives lead form notifications and service correspondence
• Google Analytics (GA4) — processes anonymized site-usage data

We use encrypted (HTTPS) connections for every page of our website. Internally, access to your information is limited to Klager Cleaning staff who need it to serve you. We do not store credit card numbers — payments are handled through your bank or e-transfer, and those details never touch our systems.

Sharing with third parties

We don't sell your data. Full stop. The only times your information leaves Klager Cleaning are:

• Service providers — Netlify, Gmail, Google Analytics (as described above) — strictly to run our website and respond to you
• Legal obligations — if required by a court order, subpoena, or applicable law
• Safety — to protect the rights, safety, or property of Klager Cleaning, our customers, or the public

Cookies & analytics

Our website uses a small number of cookies and tracking tools to function and to help us understand how visitors use the site.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

We use Google Analytics to measure site traffic — page views, session length, bounce rate, traffic sources, and which pages convert best. GA4 sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) that identify a browser, not a person. IP addresses are anonymized before being processed. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Functional cookies

We may use a small cookie to remember that you've dismissed our cookie consent banner, so it doesn't reappear on every page.

Third-party pixels

If in the future we add advertising pixels (such as the Meta Pixel for Facebook/Instagram ads or the TikTok Pixel), this policy will be updated and you will be notified via our cookie banner before those pixels activate. We do not currently run any advertising pixels.

Managing cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings: block all cookies, allow only first-party cookies, or clear cookies when you close the browser. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use our website — it just means we won't see you in our stats.

Your rights

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct any inaccuracies
• Withdraw consent to our collection, use, or disclosure of your information
• Request deletion of your information, subject to our legal retention obligations
• Challenge our compliance with this policy or with PIPEDA

To exercise any of these rights, email klagercleaning@gmail.com with your name and the nature of your request. We will respond within 30 days as required by PIPEDA. If you're unsatisfied with our response, you can file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

• Quote requests that don't become bookings — deleted after 12 months
• Customer records (active clients) — kept for the duration of our service relationship plus 7 years for tax and insurance purposes
• Analytics data — retained by Google Analytics for up to 14 months (default), then automatically deleted

Children

Our services are intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add a new service provider, or if Canadian privacy law changes. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and significant updates will be announced via our cookie banner or email notice. Continued use of our website after changes means you accept the updated policy.
